Fresno State’s Gibson Farm Market Fall Festival
Fresno State’s Gibson Farm Market is hosting a Fall Festival. It’s your chance to taste many of the student produced products while also getting into the spirit of the season.
The fun is taking place Saturday, October 22 from 8am to 4pm. There’s plenty enjoy!
This family friendly event will feature a pumpkin patch. There will be a kid’s zone full of activities and games. I’m told a few animals will be on display, as well as a tractor that you can climb onto and take pictures.
It’s a farm market, so of course there will be plenty of food! All of the products for sale at the Gibson Farm Market have been grown, packaged and/or processed by Fresno State students. That means your purchases are going back to the university.
There’s a little bit of everything. There are dairy products, including Fresno State’s famous ice cream. You can buy it by the carton or enjoy a scoop. For the Fall Festival, some new “fall” flavors are available.
Fresh fruits and vegetables are sold at the market. There are meat products, nuts, candies, jams, syrups and award-winning wine.
For the October 22nd event, wine-tasting will be taking place. Many of the food items will also be sampled.
Tri-tip sandwiches will be for sale. Those are being prepared by the students too!
If you are a fan of Fresno State’s famous sweet corn, you won’t want to miss the Fall Festival. For the first time ever, a late variety of corn was planted and it will be for sale. There’s not a lot of it and it’s expected to sell fast.
If you don’t know, corn is a big deal at Fresno State. It’s typically only available in the summer. People wait in long lines to buy it. It’s a staple at my family’s dinner table. We boil ours, but plenty love it barbecued.
The Gibson Farm Market is located at 5368 N. Chestnut Avenue. That’s between Shaw and Barstow. Again the Fall Festival is Saturday, October 22 from 8am to 4pm. However if you can’t make it out that day, the market is open 7 days a week.
Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm. Saturday’s from 9am to 4pm and Sundays from 11am to 4pm.
The Gibson Farm Market is run by Fresno State students. It originally opened in 1987 and moved to its new expanded location in 2013.
