There are a lot of things to love about the Fresno Grizzlies. The first of course being that they play pretty good professional baseball right in our backyard. But a close second is their awesome marketing stunts – in particular when it results in awesome stuff for us to buy. It started with just great Fresno-branded gear in a market that was sorely lacking. It became quite literally worldwide with the ever-growing, insanely popular Fresno Tacos line. And this holiday season, they will be making it all more accessible than ever.
The Grizzlies just announced that they will be opening a holiday pop-up shop at River Park this Friday. It will be in that secret little row of shops attached to the parking garage, across from Me-n-Ed’s Coney Island Grill. The store will be open for business at 9 a.m., and a grand opening party will take place Friday night from 5 to 7. All fans are invited to attend. The first 80 visitors will receive a voucher for a free slice of pizza and a soda from Me-n-Ed’s. There will be photo opportunities with Fresno Grizzlies mascot Parker and Fresno Tacos mascot Cilantro Gomez.
“We’re always striving to keep the coolest brand in Fresno as Triple-A baseball team. Our merchandise is renowned and sold nationally, and is a symbol of regional pride,” Grizzlies marketing director Sam Hansen said in a news release. “This limited time River Park pop-up shop will give North Fresno shoppers a chance to take advantage of having this product readily available for easy purchase. We will also offer limited quantity exclusive items that will only be available at the pop-up shop.”
In the spirit of the holidays, there will be special apparel – including a Fresno Tacos ugly Christmas sweater – available online and in stores in December. Additionally, the Grizzlies are celebrating what will be their 20th season in 2017 with a special commemorative logo and merchandise.
In addition to the River Park store, the Grizzlies team store at Chukchansi Park remains open Monday through Friday from noon to 4:30 p.m., with expanded hours on Black Friday and the weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas. You can follow the Grizzlies on Facebook to keep up to date on all the specials I’m sure they’ll be running. And don’t forget, season tickets are already available for 2017! Schedules and information will be available at the pop-up shop, as well as on the Grizzlies website.
