In years past, one of my favorite online posts to read was Mike Osegueda’s Synced Light Tour. Having long been a fan of Christmas Tree Lane, I craved more lights, more music and more time in a cozy car with loved ones and hot cocoa during the Christmas season, and Mike’s guide gave me just that.
Fresno’s most-festive holiday homes change a bit year to year, but I thought I’d do my best to fill the void and provide you with a list of Five Fantastically Festive Homes to See in 2015:
1. The Synced Light Home on Winchester (Bullard/Maroa)
A personal favorite of my family’s, this home goes all out each year with a music and light show featuring a different display and soundtrack each year. Pull over across the street from the home, turn off your lights, and tune your radio to the station shown on the sign in the front yard. Winchester is two streets West of Maroa off of Bullard Ave. There is a sign at the end of the street directing you to the home – you can’t miss it!
2. All Homemade Holiday House (Blythe and Shields)
I am really looking forward to seeing this home, near my old high school and along my childhood bus route. I’m hearing (from many FresYes fans on Facebook – thank you!) that this house is amazing and all of the decorations are homemade! To get to it, map Suki’s Auto Repair and head East on Shields from the corner – I hear you can’t possibly miss this amazing house.
3. A Mock Christmas Synced Light Show (Clovis & Church)
This synced, musical display, created by Fresno Unified IT guru, Delbert Mock, plays several songs and features singing, lit Christmas trees. How can you possibly miss that? Head over to Clovis Avenue and Church to enjoy this SE/Sunnyside treat. Mock has been doing this for many years now, so I’m certain this will be a great display!
4. Stunning Display in NE Fresno (Bullard, between First and Cedar)
This beautifully decorated home is a spectacular sparkler. To see this one, drive toward the Hoover High neighborhood. The home is located off of Bullard, nearer to First than Cedar, but between the two streets (I believe the neighborhood cross street is Flora, and the house is on a corner lot). I hear it’s so brilliant, you might need sunglasses at night! 😉 (Disclaimer: Don’t drive with sunglasses at night. Duh.)
5. The Holiday House + Christmas Eve Luminaries (1690 W. Stuart, West & Sierra)
The Holiday House offers passersby one of the most varied and whimsical displays of holiday yard decor and lighting in Northwest Fresno. If at all possible though, I highly, highly recommend you save this one for Christmas Eve night. If you do, you’ll get to see the entire neighborhood lit by glowing paper bag luminaries, a heart-warming display and tradition, started by the Holiday House owner. (My family drives or walks through the luminary display each year – so special!)
Ok, those are my 5 must-see homes for 2015 – now bundle up and go! Have fun, take pictures and don’t forget your Christmas playlist for the drive!
Wishing you and yours, a healthy and happy holiday season, and the Merriest of Christmases!
