In the last few weeks, I’ve been focusing the spotlight on some of the cool mobile businesses that appeared at my Movie in the Park in June. These businesses work hard to get their cool products seen in Fresno—businesses like Diehardz&Son, run by Pete Salazar.
I talked to Pete about what makes Diehardz so unique. Check it out.
1. When did your business start?
The Diehardz name was created in 1997.
2. What inspired you to start it?
Becoming a father in 1997 was my inspiration to want to become more, but I was an entrepreneur when I was 12 years old, when I use to mow lawns. I’m now 42. Knowing my son and firstborn was on the way—it’s like it kicked back in.
3. What do you love about selling your merch at community events?
What I’ve learned over the years is it’s about what your customers want, love, are into, collect, and if your service or product helps make life better for them. When you accomplish that, it’s beyond money, it’s a great thing! When they walk away happy, that’s what I love.
4. What’s unique about your business?
We mix things you wouldn’t normally see most vendors/coordinators do. Where we are at now is different—we sell collectible toys (pop culture, sci-fi, comic books, vintage toys) and we have our own beard care line products private label that we mix, beard serums (oils) and beard balms to help maintain awesome beards and facial fair! We are event coordinators and host “The Weekend Blender” inside Sierra Vista Mall, which is our three-day indoor mall show with Kids’ Art Hop, various vendors and special guests. Building since 2009!
We work with Central California Blood Center coordinating a “Star Wars Fans Blood Drive” once a year along with other small drives. We also broker printing for your flyer/business card needs. We frame autographed jerseys, photos, etc. We can set up silent auctions to work with fundraising—to name a few things that we do and make us unique! We used to book live music, multi-genre, from 2008–2015.
5. Where can people track your whereabouts?
Facebook, Instagram, and website coming soon!
